Finding employment in a new country can be challenging, but settlement services offer a range of support to help newcomers find work in their respective fields. Services Wadi-Kaja Organization for Refugees and Immigrants provides to support newcomers include job search workshops, resume writing, interview preparation, job market information, employment laws, workplace health and safety, and networking opportunities, including linkages with mentors.

The approaches our employment counsellors used to equip newcomers with skills and abilities to find sustainable jobs include:

• Individual assessment of skills, interests and abilities
• Job search strategies and support, including resume development and interview preparation
• Information about careers and occupations, local labour market, employment opportunities
• Help in maintaining employment
• Information and referral to other employment and community services.
