We have developed a youth-specific program area called Canadian and Newcomer Youth Community Engagement, an initiative in which Canadian youth are paired with their peers’ newcomers, and refugees to carry out activities such as orientation to the Canadian education system, financial and digital literacy, and establishing mentorship initiatives that provides ongoing support and guidance to the youth participants as they navigate Canadian landscape.
The implementation of this activity includes also supporting newcomer and refugee youth with their homework, and helping them to express their settlement and resettlement experiences through writing, storytelling, photographs, short movies, etc.
