Community Engagement

COMMUNITY ENGAGMENT WITH NON-SECTOR PARTNERS

The lessons learned since our establishment are that partnerships and collaboration were meaningful ways of leveraging resources, sharing the best practices, and avoiding duplication of services. Thus, we have partnered with other immigrants-serving organizations such as Catholic Cross-cultural Services, Jewish Immigrant Aid Services, and coalitions such as Toronto East Local Immigrant Partnership, Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants, etc. and the Toronto Public Health: to conduct health workshops On top of formal and informal partnerships built over time with some of our sister organizations operating their programming in the EAST of Toronto, we acknowledge a huge increase of solidarity beyond our expectations.

Thus the storm caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, just a few months after we opened our doors, did not break us down; rather, it spurred the community as a whole into action. Also, linkages are established with essential federal and provincial programs; and other mainstream service providers, including schools, educational and financial institutions, and other community-based organizations.
